Making a Personal Connection
For Change

Alisha Saucedo, LSCSW RPT

Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker, Registered Play Therapist

Alisha Saucedo, LSCSW RPT has been with Family Psychological Services since 2014. In November she announced her desire to begin transitioning to a practice in Topeka where she is a resident in order to be closer to home.. That transition will be complete on March 17, 2018.

One of our core values at Family Psychological Services is to treat one another as we would want to be treated in similar circumstances. We respect Alisha's desire to ease her life as a working parent and we support her successful transition, even as we will miss her and are sorry to see her leave.

Until March 17, Alisha will see her existing FPS clients at this office. Thereafter, she will be practicing full time at New Beginnings Health Care. Their office is in South Topeka at:

2914 SW Plass Ct
Topeka, Kansas 66611
Phone: (785) 233-7138
Fax: (785) 233-7089

We want to make this transition as seamless as possible for clients and for both agencies. Clients who wish to continue working with Alisha may schedule appointments after March 17th at New Beginnings by calling the office number listed above. They will also need to sign a release of information with FPS to transfer medical records. Ideally, Alisha would complete the physical transfer of those records before March 17. Your records will also remain accessible at FPS for seven years. Child records remain available for seven years past age of majority.

Medication Services. Per the integrated treatment policy of Family Psychological Services (FPS), clients who continue with Alisha at New Beginnings will need to transfer medication management to one of their several prescribers by April 30th. Kelsey Daugherty, DNP and Carrie Poe will assist in that transfer as necessary.

Clients Who Opt to Remain at FPS. Alisha's clients are welcome to remain at FPS and transfer to another provider. New providers are coming on in March, so openings will be available. If we cannot find a suitable provider for you at FPS, we will help you look in Lawrence for therapy and (if needed) medication management. If you have further questions, contact Carrie through our HIPAA compliant email at

Informed Consent in Choosing. Your decision to transfer or remain at FPS is a matter of informed consent. In making it, consider the frequency and duration of your therapy and medication services. It is 30 miles and 33 minutes each way from the FPS office in North Central Lawrence to New Beginnings in South Topeka. If you live or work in Topeka, this may be more convenient and accessible. The farther east or south you live in Lawrence and the more often you come for therapy and med checks, the more this distance could impede treatment. Consider how long you think you’ll remain in therapy. The nearer you are to finishing, the more transitioning may make sense. Consider your experience with Alisha and that it can be difficult to start over with a new therapist and that it can take time for him or her to get to know your case. Consider how that applies to changing medication providers, too if you decide to transfer.

You may wish to meet with a prospective therapist here and then make a decision. FPS will offer you one free session with another provider for that purpose. Just contact Carrie Poe and ask. Most importantly, be open to discussing this with Alisha. All of us, including Alisha, are unbiased in this decision. Our investment isn’t in keeping you as a client or directing you to New Beginnings. Our investment is, as a matter of ethics and good clinical practice, in helping you decide what will work best for you and your family’s care now and in the future.
